ARTIST STATEMENT

SERGIO QUIROS (/’KEE-ROSS) IS A NYC-BASED ARTIST WORKING IN DIGITAL MEDIA INCLUDING PAINTING, PHOTOGRAPHY, VIDEO, AND AUDIO. HIS WORK SPANS THE RANGE BETWEEN FIGURATIVENESS AND ABSTRACTION, COMBINING ELEMENTS FROM DIFFERENT STYLES SUCH AS SURREALISM, HYPERREALISM, CHIAROSCURO, TENEBRISM, AND PRIMITIVIST SYMBOLISM.

QUIROS’ WORK IS INFLUENCED BY HIS OWN LIFE EXPERIENCE. IT OFTEN ALLUDES TO THE DILEMMA OF HUMAN EXISTENCE IN TIMES OF IDEOLOGICAL, POLITICAL, AND SPIRITUAL FRAGMENTATION AT BOTH THE INDIVIDUAL AND THE COLLECTIVE LEVELS.
